Children's privacy notice

Last updated 2 Nov 2026

Draft — to be reviewed by a lawyer before public launch.

Our approach

SchoolQA is designed for learners from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Children can browse and download public resources without an account and without giving us any personal information.

Accounts for children under 13

Children under 13 cannot register themselves. A parent or legal guardian creates the child's account from their own verified parent account, chooses a username (not the child's real name) and a password, and gives consent after reading this notice. The child's account has no email address.

We record the parent's consent, the date and the notice version.

What we collect from a child

Username, nickname, grade preferences, saved resources and collections, ratings, and — only if the parent allows Q&A — questions the child writes. We do not collect the child's real name, contact details, school or location, and we do not show advertising.

Public posts

Questions are never published automatically. A moderator checks each one and removes personal information before it appears. Children have no public profile and there is no private messaging.

Parents' rights

A parent can at any time review the child's account, turn Q&A on or off, change the password, download the data or delete the account (which deletes the child's information) from Dashboard → Child accounts, or by contacting info@schoolqa.com.

Teens (13–17)

Teens may register with their own email address. We ask them to use a nickname and never to post contact details. Their posts are moderated in the same way.
